Meet Lauren

Lauren has a passion for helping children and currently works in primary schools as a support teacher, working with children with additional needs. She has always loved helping children feel their best and spent many years teaching yoga and meditation where she specialised in children’s classes. Lauren loves living on the South Coast of Sydney and is a loving mother of three children. Working with kids as well as having her own has given Lauren deep insight into what challenges children are struggling with the most today. She hopes that her books will be able to reach a wider span of young people to help them overcome any difficulties they might be experiencing.

What was the inspiration for the book?

My inspiration for the book sparked from working with children and seeing so many of them suffering from such negative thinking about themselves. I started to challenge these thoughts with those children and helped them to develop a more positive mind set and healthy self esteem, which was so beautiful to see. The book was then written with the intention of trying to help as many children as I can to develop positive self talk.

When do you write?

Ha well, this is kind of funny, I don’t have time for any set writing time with three kids of my own and working. Life is very busy! I would say between 3-5am is when I have written most of my books while the rest of the house is sleeping. I have also had some ideas come to me while on the sideline of a sporting field, or making lunches in the morning, and I just add to the notes in my phone.

Do you have a favourite place to write?

I actually don’t have a special writing space. All of my books have been written on my phone in the notes section at random times and places. I only just got a laptop recently so I guess I’m not the typical image of an author. I do like the idea of having a peaceful place with no interruptions to write but it is not really possible with busy family life! Maybe one day I’ll be sitting in the garden, drinking cups of tea, listening to the birds, with the laptop on my lap, writing away…

What would be the title of your memoirs?

Just a human trying to do good things in this world.

What is your greatest achievement so far?

My greatest achievement so far would have to be having my first book published, despite juggling family life and work demands. I persevered with a dream and didn’t give up even when faced with difficulties and challenges. For that I’m super proud of myself.

What is next for you?

I will keep working supporting children and working on my mission of helping children to feel their best. I also have a few other books in the pipeline that I hope will be published soon. Watch this space…
